Votes Without Violence

Publishing data collected across many countries on the phenomenon of violence against women in elections with a refreshed design on a new Drupal 10 website.

The Votes Without Violence website is intended to serve as a resource for The Votes Without Violence methodology, developed by the National Democratic Institute and its Gender, Women and Democracy team, which serves as a guide to monitoring electoral violence through gender-aware citizen observation.

Challenge

The previous Drupal 7 website was outdated both technologically and content-wise by the end of 2023. In addition to upgrading the website, the NDI team wanted a new, fresher design that better supports navigation between infographics and various data collections. I

Solution

The foundation of the project was the development of a stable Drupal 10 website and as part of this we refactored the content structure based on the previous site, and adapted the structure and functionality as well.

With the automated migration of the previous content, almost minimal editorial work was required on the part of the client, while at the same time, in the interests of sustainability, we not only updated the look and feel, but also optimised the editorial interfaces.

Thanks to this efficient collaboration, the new website was completed in an extremely short time, within a few weeks.
