Challenge

Enhanced access to various resources

One year before, we upgraded the website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9 but the user interfaces remained the same. A year later we were given the opportunity to revamp the design. Besides creating a fresh and vivid look, there were usability issues to be resolved.

Although the RED INNOVACIÓN team has been actively publishing a wide variety of resources, many users reported that it is not that easy to find relevant content on the website.

Solution

Comprehensive theme revamp with streamlined content structure

As the RED INNOVACIÓN team seemed to be excited to have a major design renewal, we took a big step and came up with a dark blue theme with vivid colors representing different resource categories and they immediately became enthusiastic about the new look. As for content discovery, we suggested several ways to enable users to access relevant content more easily. Before, the homepage used many different entity reference blocks, all of them using different card layouts.

Additionally, we resolved further responsivity and accessibility issues that came up over the years and not only fixed the site search but added further filtering possibilities.

We simplified the structure and created one block to promote curated content and another one to list most recent contents but allowing users to filter them by category. We created one single card layout for all content types allowing users to have a standardized user experience across the whole site.
