Kassak Museum

Connecting the dots between avant-garde and user experience

The Kassák Museum preserves, researches and presents the material and intellectual legacy of Hungarian avant-garde writer, visual artist and editor Lajos Kassák (1887–1967). The museum is a prominent factor in the research of avant-garde and modernism.

Reimagining an award-winning brand identity

Challenge

The Museum’s previous website was designed and set up more than a decade ago. It was a modern, award-winning website in the early 2010s but was very outdated by the time the Petőfi Literary Museum hired us to design and develop a new website for their member institution.

It became really difficult to maintain the content and the website has not been adapted to the new content types (events, workshops. etc.), multilingualism did not have a structured approach, so it seemed to be an exciting challenge to rethink what and how should be communicated by the museum.

Solution

We put great emphasis on recreating the content and navigation structure to be used on the new website.

The former framework was very limited for quite a while, so we took the time to help the Museum's staff surpass the structures they became accustomed to.

On the other hand, they really liked the previous design and really wanted to have continuity with it, so we invited the designer of the Kassák Museum's logo and previous website  as consultant. The main outcome of the new website is its improved design and accessibility, both on the side of the users and the museum's staff.
