A Look Back at 2021

We have completed 25 sprints and more than 4800 issues covering around 15,000 story points. We spent at least 10,000 hours in online meetings and worked on 23 projects, out of which five accounted for 50% of our income

Integral Vision

Although 2021 was the second in a row to be marked by the pandemic, we were able to close a successful year.

We have completed 25 sprints and more than 4800 issues covering around 15,000 story points. We spent at least 10,000 hours in online meetings and worked on 23 projects.

Below is a summary of the highlights from the year:

Press. We started to collect the press releases on our company (available in Hungarian only)

#7. In April, we have announced the 7th best Drupal company by Clutch.co, one of the most renowned B2B ratings and review platforms.

We were listed among the Best Workplaces by one of Hungary’s leading job portals.

We have contributed to the energy market liquidity of the Baltic states. Our collaboration with Navitasoft dates back over a decade. In the beginning, we mainly worked together on UI design. Still, during the past few years, the emphasis of our cooperation gradually shifted towards development, partly because, in the meantime, Drupal evolved into a reliable integration platform that can now be used efficiently as an enterprise content management system. Navitasoft opted for us as their partners for the strategic tender for the Baltic states. Our joint application was successful, and we delivered the application on deadline. You can read more on the project here and access the application here.

Monitoring the environment of civil society organizations (CSOs) during the year, we learned a lot about the various aspects of monitoring the situation of the civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries and the presentation and comparison of these multi-layered qualitative research findings. The result is now available at the CSO Meter site.

52nd International Eucharistic Congress. The event took place in September, with more than half a million participants from all around the world. We were responsible for the development and operation of the Congress’s website. We were excited to monitor the traffic of the site, and we were proud to see that even during peak times, we managed to operate the site flawlessly.

Pro bono. So far as possible, we have been always supporting important social cases and civil society initiatives either financially or with our capacity. Until now, the organizations and projects found us through our personal or professional connections, so in 2021 we decided to publish our first call for applications for pro bono support. After the closing of the call in August, we were happy to start our collaboration with Thalassa Ház -  Institute for Psychotherapeutic and Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and ALTKÖZEGY, the Association of Alternative Communities which aims to support young people who belong to (often marginalized) subcultures.

Charity. We decided to offer our annual pro bono charity to the Kórházsuli, the HospitalSchool program, which supports the education of children who have to stay in hospital because of long-term illnesses.

Web development trends. At the beginning of the year, we reviewed the international press about the predicted design trends for 2021, selected those that are in line with our experiences. Our summary of the 5 aspects that should be taken into account when developing a website mainly focuses on faster and secure information transfer.

Drupal upgrade. The upgrade cycle of the main version of Drupal will change significantly in the future: the main versions will upgrade more frequently, but following the updates will be easier than before. Read more on this topic here.

Eco-friendly websites. The rate of digital storage emission is predicted to reach 14% by 2040 How can an online service become ‘greener’? How does eco-friendly web development work? Read the article of my colleague Andi Fulmer here.

Simplicity as an asset. Edward de Bono passed away on 9 June 2021, at the age of 88, leaving behind more than 60 books as his legacy. Bono is best known as the father of lateral thinking and the author of the Six Thinking Hats, and his methods are excellent both for system development and organizational cooperation. His portrait has been on the wall of the Integral Vision office for more than a decade now, next to Mihály Csíkszentmihályi and Seth Godin. His thoughts are among the founding principles of the company’s operation.

Indeed, we had to face many challenges in 2021. For the sake of safety and health, we started the year working from home, started getting in tune with the drastic changes by moving our office in June, and energized the whole team with the positive vibes of personal encounters. By September, we were ready to release the handbrake and start planning our visions for our future development.
