A secure job?

Integral Vision: office

From my father, I received the advice to "have - my son - a secure job and be appreciated." He worked as a civil engineer. I enjoyed visiting his workplace and he was happy for me. On weekdays, he moved documents around in his slightly cigar-smelling office. He also visited the settlements in the area on weekends and designed houses. He also showed us the best projects. To this day, I remember one of the seven-room, multi-generational family house with a fancy gallery. I couldn't comprehend how he could figure this out in advance. We sat there in the freshly painted living room, my father tasted his coffee, and I bathed in the serene atmosphere that developed between the client and the designer. He was proud of what he did, and I liked the atmosphere around him.

My father was both an employee and an entrepreneur, so I had the opportunity to see him in both roles. The former worked in a predictable, secure office, and the latter implemented complete projects from tender to design. I could follow his struggle to leave his secure job to take care of his precarious business fulltime.

A period of economic crisis is ideal for a business to regenerate, go bankrupt, or just be born. Founding Integral Vision (IV) dates back to the 2008 crisis. That change swept the Hungarian e-learning market, and the demand for self-developed, closed-source, overpriced solutions also decreased. There has been an increase in demand for efficient, fast-to-deliver, open-source developments. It was an ideal moment to bring IV to life.

Now, perhaps, an even bigger economic crisis is in sight. The reorganization of the market is not a question, and it is also clear that this will have an impact on IT service providers. For any turn, it's essential to see what motivation, where we came from. We need to see our fears and also what drives us. Change requires risk, but there must be a certainty that failure is not a fatal mistake. My friend István Marhefka invited me to discuss the pros and cons of being an employee vs. being an entrepreneur (available only in Hungarian):
