Complete visual renewal while preserving existing structures

The Castle Garden Bazaar, located on the sife of Buda Castle Hill, is an architectural gem built in the late 19th century. This iconic landmark underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2014 and has since transformed into a vibrant cultural hub. The Bazaar hosts an array of events, including concerts, exhibitions, theater performances, and community initiatives.

Challenge

Reflecting institutional transformations, service expansions, and rebranding

We developed the website for the Várkert Bazár, along with the information interfaces for its kiosks and the accompanying mobile app, in 2017. Since its reopening in 2014, the Bazár has continuously expanded its services and program offerings. As a result, its communication channels, including the website, have undergone constant updates and transformations over the years.

In 2024, the institution’s visual identity was aligned with that of the Buda Castle District, making it essential for the website to reflect this new direction. Such transformations present a consistent challenge: how to cost-effectively adapt an increasingly complex, organically developed structure to meet evolving presentation and functionality requirements.

Mutual understanding and compromises with business goals in mind

After thoroughly familiarizing ourselves with the new branding elements and guidelines, we discussed content management priorities and created visual designs to harmonize the new look with the site’s existing content. The goal was to integrate the new visual elements seamlessly without requiring significant changes to the data structure.

It was crucial to complete the transition within the available time and budget constraints.

Through effective communication between the two teams, aligning needs with possibilities, and striving for mutual understanding, we reached compromises that successfully met business objectives, adhered to budget limits, and provided the best possible user experience.
