Empowering civil society through sharing & learning

ECNL’s learning platform offers videos, explainers, and readings on areas that affect civic space, organized under thematic packages. Related stories explain how such measures impact civil society work in practice, and CSOs in different countries took to push back.

Challenge
Independent microsite embedded within the existing website
ECNL was about to launch a learning platform to share a variety of different tools and resources with civil society practitioners so that they can learn more about key aspects that affect their day-to-day work.
They wanted a free, easily accessible platform with a unique layout but one that can be managed via their website. It was also important that content can be easily shared among the two websites.

Solution
Enhanced branding elements and structural extension with a multidomain approach
We decided to use a multidomain solution to implement the learning center on its own subdomain while reusing and sharing content types and taxonomies from the main website. We designed and implemented a unique theme for the sites and developed some new features that could be reused on the main site as well.
