A complete visual and structural renewal of a Drupal 7-based website in Drupal 10.
Petőfi Literary Museum collects and explores the Hungarian literary heritage as fully as possible and presents classical and contemporary Hungarian literature in a multifaceted way.
Challenge
The Petőfi Literary Museum has been one of our most active clients for several years. We had created their previous Drupal 7 website, and have been supporting its operation ever since. As the moment has come to upgrade the system to Drupal 10, at the same time, the museum staff opted for the complete renewal of the website. On one hand, they wanted to update the visual design of the previous website and also restructure the content, which had grown significantly over the years, to ensure that their audience could access all the relevant information on a modern, clean and easy-to-navigate site.
Solution
As we have been working with the museum for many years, our close relationship has allowed for working as a team to reimagine an already familiar environment. The collaboration involved rethinking the look and feel of the website to create a state-of-the art, clean and user friendly portal, equally appealing to the museum's diverse audience. In addition to the visual renewal, it was also important that the previously overwhelming menu system would be replaced by a simple and clear navigation to help visitors find the content they needed quickly and easily. The new menu structure retained the thematic structure of the previous site that reflected the main activities of the museum: exhibitions, programmes, information about the museum and its collections are now can be navigated in the simplest possible way. An important step was that the Digital Literary Academy, the digital "imprint" of contemporary Hungarian literature, previously available within the portal, moved to a separate website, while the PIM Media Library, the dedicated site for emigrant literature, and the collections within the museum were all renewed in accordance with the revamped new site.
